Q: What is virgin PTFE sheet?
Virgin PTFE sheet is an unfilled, 100% pure PTFE plate manufactured by compression molding and sintering. It is the default starting material for CNC machining, gaskets, seals, and laboratory surfaces where chemical resistance and purity matter most.
Q: How thick does virgin PTFE sheet come?
Standard thickness range is 1 mm to 80 mm. The most common stocked thicknesses are 1, 2, 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, and 80 mm. Sheets up to 100 mm are produced to order.
Q: Is virgin PTFE sheet FDA compliant?
Yes. Virgin PTFE is compliant with FDA 21 CFR 177.1550 for repeated food contact. We can supply a declaration of compliance on request for food, beverage, and pharmaceutical projects.
Q: What is the maximum continuous service temperature?
Virgin PTFE sheet is rated for continuous service from -180 °C to +260 °C. It is the broadest working envelope of any commercially available plastic sheet.
Q: Can virgin PTFE sheet be machined?
Yes. Virgin PTFE sheet is the most common stock for CNC machining of seals, valve seats, and laboratory components. Standard machining tolerance is ±0.05 mm; tighter tolerances to ±0.01 mm are achievable with stress-relieving. See our PTFE CNC tolerance guide for the detail.
Q: Is virgin PTFE sheet the same as expanded PTFE sheet?
No. Virgin PTFE sheet is a dense, solid plate with no porosity. Expanded PTFE sheet is microporous, compressible, and is used for flange gaskets. They look different and serve different purposes.
Q: What sizes are available?
Standard sheet size is 600 × 600 mm, 1000 × 1000 mm, 1200 × 1200 mm, and 1500 × 1500 mm. Custom sizes up to 2000 × 2000 mm are available on request.
